Here’s a stunning 1964 Martin D-28 with an amazing history. It is from the collection of Leo Jackson that we are representing. Leo was a highly successful A-list Nashville session player for over three decades, playing on records for influential country artists such as George Strait, Alabama, and countless others. Leo was also the longtime lead guitarist, both live and in studio, for the country music icon Jim Reeves…In 1964 while in New York together, Jim sent Leo out one afternoon with a blank check and a personal request for Leo to personally choose a Martin for Jim. Blank check in hand, Leo went to Manny’s music and according to Leo himself, “looked at over 100 guitars and this is the one I bought for Jim.” Wow, wow, wow. We have a letter from Leo describing the event as well as a copy of the original receipt from March of 1964, that’s made out to “James Reeves”. Incredible. This was most likely the last guitar Jim Reeves purchased as he died very shortly after in a tragic plane crash. A flight that Leo himself was supposed to have been on. There’s an entirely different and amazing story about that too!

Unfortunately, Leo passed away in 2008 and we have been given the honor of helping find new homes for a few guitars from his incredible arsenal. Guitars which were with him on every session he did over the course of his incredible career! These are truly pieces of country music history.

The D-28 is simply fantastic. It is a canon and sounds amazing. There’s really no other way to say it. It’s no wonder this is the guitar Leo picked out of 100!

We also have a second video on this guitar that is a full, in hand description. Simply Click Here to see it. Thanks!

This little box of magic takes your input signal and splits it into two always-on outputs that are buffered so you don’t loose clarity or tone in any way.

Here are some of the uses.

*Plug your guitar in and use one output to send your clean signal somewhere like a mixer, separate amp, etc… and send the other output through your board like normal.

*Use one output to send a constant signal to your tuner and the other for your normal chain. This can help you defeat those volume pedal “tuner out” horrors!

*Split your signal in any way you can imagine!

NOTE: This item is used.

Tonally, the 4×10′s are very well balanced and give a tightness in the lower frequencies that 12′s usually don’t provide.

This amp has been played, but was obviously still very well taken care of. Everything on it functions flawlessly, including the original foot-switch.

JHS PULP N’ PEEL COMPRESSOR:
Most compressors you see are based off of the Ross/MXR design that yield very squashed high end and a lack of upper end clarity and definition. The Pulp n Peel is not. With the PnP you will find that your guitars natural color and attack stay in place instead of being forced under a hard and un-transparent squash. Another advantage is its low noise floor and super headroom that allows it to be used as a boost in front of or behind your favorite overdrive/distortion or fuzz. The controls are as simple as it gets with compression, volume and a clean blend knob to dial in your original untouched signal. The idea behind our design is that you will never want to turn it off.

NOTE: The blend control blends compression in. All the way up is full compression/preamp tone while rolling it backward brings in your original uncompressed tone.

While we mostly handle vintage gear at L & W Vintage, we have developed partnerships with some our personal favorite boutique builders. In the pedal world, JHS is a leader in small, boutique builders and we absolutely love EVERYTHING they build. That’s not an exaggeration.
MORNING GLORY OVERDRIVE:
There’s a lot of hype out there these days with overdrive pedals and the last thing we want to do is to add to the noise. As you may already know, almost every boutique overdrive on the market is a modified Tubescreamer of some sort, we have decided to take a different approach. The Morning Glory is a very transparent tone-shaping tool that is the result of several years of building, gigging, tweaking and improving on the original Marshall Bluesbreaker design. We improved vastly on the BB while maintaining what made it a great pedal in the first place. It now has around 4X more headroom, 2X the available gain and a more useful tone control. The “Bright Cut” toggle allows the perfect level of EQ for your rig. You will notice immediately how touch sensitive and dynamic the feel of this pedal is. The frequencies are perfectly balanced and the tone knob reacts as a high frequency roll off. The drive allows you a huge range of tones from “little wing-ish” chime to classic rock era bite. If you’re a Strat player, this pedal will bring you sounds that you may have thought impossible and if you like the Les Paul, get ready to discover a new pallet of sounds that you won’t be able to live without. With enough clean headroom to be used as a boost as well as a hefty amount of drive, this may be your go-to pedal, for good. NOTE: Adding JHS’s Mini Bomb Boost in front of this pedal is astonishingly good!
